The Future of work is all about the employee experience and engagement – One of the priority at Workplace as per the Deloitte’s fifth annual Global Human Capital Trends report and survey 2017.
Understanding and improving the employee experi¬ence is critical for companies operating in a highly competitive global economy where the largest portion of the workforce are millennials with a different view point & perspective at the workplace. Things they want and look for, recognition and making an immediate impact have created a strong demand for employee engagement and employee experience that many leading companies will be focusing on.
It’s a must for HR departments to deliver an employee experience that is human centered, uses the latest digital technologies, and is personalized, compelling, and memorable. Factors that contribute to a positive employee experience:
1. Creating a Holistic employee experience – Companies should make employee experience a priority for HR lead¬ers, and not delegating this problem to an annual engagement survey. It should be defined as a holistic view of life at work, requiring constant feedback, action, and monitoring.
2. Assigned responsibility – It’s important to have an assigned resource, someone responsible for the complete employee experience, focused on employee journeys, experiences, engagement, and culture.
3. Creating spaces that promote a work culture – siloed HR departments often find it difficult to obtain the resources needed to address an integrated set of priorities.
4. Investing in employee wellness – It’s important to have an integrated program for employee well-being focused on the employee, family, and entire experience at life and work. Rewards also include nonfinancial rewards: meals, leaves, vacation policy, fitness, and wellness programs.
5. Technology plays a vital role – The employee experience platform should be designed, mobile, and includes digital apps, prescriptive solutions based on employee journeys, and ongoing communications that support and inspire employees.
6. Embrace design thinking – Have a view of what your employees are doing every day and discover new ways to simplify work and improve productivity, performance, and engagement.
As per the study, organizations need a new outlook—one that builds on the foundation of culture and engagement to focus on the employee experience holistically, considering all the contributors to worker satisfaction, engagement, wellness, and alignment.
