In the recent blog by Boris Groysberg, a professor of business administration at Harvard Business School pointed to a research that shows hooking up with the right manager—whether in sports or business—can quickly increase your value even if your pay is less.
His blog post talks about this study in the area of Sports however he mentions that by enhancing employee value managers can potentially add significant value to an organization.
Do you think a pay cut is worth to work for a great leader?
“You are the average of the five people you spend the most time with.” – Jim Rohn
I will agree to a pay cut to work for a good manager. The value added by a good manager is immense and cannot be evaluated in short period. Taking long horizon in consideration, this pay cut will look inconsequential as we go forward. Even from money point of view, this pay cut is nothing short of deferred payment. The development under a Great Manager compensates all of it in our career.
